Developing a Municipal Solar Water Heating Deployment Program – Lessons Learned from Toronto

The City of Toronto’s Solar Neighbourhoods pilot program has been one of the most successful pilot programs for deploying residential solar water heaters in Canada.  Key to Toronto’s success was overcoming of regulatory challenges that have been a major barrier to the solar industry in Canada.  Toronto Building has now issued over 200 building permits for solar hot water installations. This workshop outlines some of Solar Neighbourhoods’ key learning outcomes as well as the methodologies Toronto Building developed to reduce the regulatory burden for solar hot water.

This workshop will provide useful information on regulatory and program best practices for municipal building and water safety officials, energy deployment and support program agencies, government energy and environmental agencies and solar professionals.

This workshop will be held as part of the Energy Matters Summit on April 27.  You must register for the conference to attend the workshop
